Case Study:

Water Works Park Foundation

Des Moines, IA

Capital Campaign Counsel

Pre-Campaign Process (feasibility study)

The Big Splash Campaign

Amount Raised: $10 million

Phase I of the planned multi-phase activation of Des Moines Water Works Park included significant investment in the creation of trails, Lauridsen Amphitheater, the Great Lawn and the Grey’s Lake Connector.  Working with a new non-profit to develop the plan, test elements within the Central Iowa community through a Pre-Campaign Process and subsequently providing counsel to volunteers and staff, the campaign included several phases of corporate and personal donations, Enhance Iowa funding, investment from public entities and grant writing.  RGI is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this lasting investment in Central Iowa’s thriving arts scene.

"Renaissance Group played a crucial role in helping a fledgling organization achieve what many people thought impossible. The initiative to develop one of the largest urban parks in the country was led primarily by a group of young next generation volunteer leaders, inexperienced in leading large community initiatives. RGI conducted our feasibility study and then planned, trained, supported and helped execute our capital campaign, surpassing our initial $9 million goal by more than $1 million."
